This conference is designed for students interested in building their professional network in Washington, DC. Through the participation of SIPA alumni and professionals based in DC, current students will be introduced to a comprehensive collection of employers suited to SIPA interests. The Conference is a three-day event consisting of a Welcome Breakfast and "Living in DC" panel, various employer site visits, an alumni/student networking reception, and informational interviews with alumni.

Your conference ticket will grant you access to the following:
- Entry* to all conference events over four-days, including career panels, employer site visits, workshops, round-table discussions, networking reception, special programming with the Dean, and happy hours
- Contact information of DC-based alumni
- Resources and coaching around professional networking
- Breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Wednesday, January 15
- Drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown

*Some events require pre-registration while others are first-come-first-served. Please read each event description in its entirety and register for those that you are committed to attending.

All conference attendees will be required to attend ONE mandatory orientation. Attendance will be taken. The dates are as follows:
- Monday, November 25 from 1-2pm
- Wednesday, December 4 from 1-2pm
- Tuesday, December 10 from 5-6pm.

Students are responsible for their own accommodations and travel. You should make arrangements that are most convenient for you; some students stay with friends or family, while others book a hotel. Additionally, OCS negotiates discounted group rates at a hotel in Washington, DC on behalf of Conference participants.

Cancellations and refunds will be honored until December 1. Tickets will then become non-refundable and non-transferable.
Food Provided (We strive to work with our vendors to provide safe and delicious meals for those with dietary restrictions. Despite taking every precaution, we cannot guarantee that menu items are free of trace amounts of allergens or other ingredients. Workshop: Identifying Innovation Opportunities from Emerging Technologies with Deloitte

This 2-hour workshop is designed and facilitated by Deloitte professionals.

Purpose: To build familiarity with significant technology trends and how they create opportunities for innovation – both in business model (what an organization is set up to do) and specific capabilities (how it does those things).

Objectives: After participating in this course, participants will be able to 1) articulate how technology shapes operating environment and strategy; 2) identify categories and examples of emerging technology applications; and 3) connect technologies to problems and understand the roles of emerging technology engagement.

Alumni from SIPA will also be in attendance to answer any questions about life beyond Columbia University and New York City.

Stephen Hadley served as assistant to the president for National Security Affairs from 2005-2009. In that capacity he was the principal White House foreign policy adviser to then President George W. Bush, directed the National Security Council staff, and ran the interagency national security policy development and execution process. From 2001 to 2005, Hadley was the assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser, serving under then National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice. In addition to covering the full range of national security issues, he had special responsibilities in several specific areas including U.S. relations with Russia, the Israeli disengagement from Gaza, developing a strategic relationship with India and ballistic missile defense.

About the National Counterterrorism Center:

The National Counterterrorism Center leads and integrates the national counterterrorism (CT) effort by fusing foreign and domestic CT information, providing terrorism analysis, sharing information with partners across the CT enterprise, and driving whole-of-government action to secure U.S. national CT objectives.

Additional Information:

- Students must bring a government-issued photo ID.
- Dress Code - Business Formal.
- Students MUST ARRIVE 30 MINUTES prior to the visit to allow time for security check-in.
- Metro to the McLean metro stop. From there, you will have to take a Lyft/Uber/Taxi to the visitor center at NCTC (about 10-15 minutes drive). You must take a car and cannot walk onto the campus.

Directions:

Step 1: Metro
From Washington, DC, take the Silver Line towards Wiehle/Reston. Get off at the McLean stop.

Step 2: Taxi/Uber/Lyft
Taxis are often but not always available at the metro stop. Be prepared to use Uber/Lyft.
Take the car to 1500 Tysons Mclean Drive. When turning onto Mclean Drive, stay in the LEFT lane to continue to the Access Control Center/Visitor's Center. Attendees will be met at the Access Control Center/Visitor's Center. Please note that all arriving guests must come by car, and are not allowed to enter the campus on foot.
