PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PD) PLUS: BUILDING YOUR PROFESSIONAL PROFILE (For International Students)

The PD Plus seminar is required for students who have 2 years or less of professional experience.

· If you have more than 2 years of professional experience (not including internship experience), you may attend a Professional Development, Building Your Professional Profile seminar that is not indicated as Plus).

· This seminar represents one half of the SIPA Professional Development (PD) requirement. To complete this requirement, register and attend one Professional Development elective seminar.

For registered students, full attendance and participation in this two-session seminar is required. Students should attend only the sessions of Building Your Professional Profile that aligns to their registration in SIPA Connect.)

About Building Your Professional Profile:

Navigating the employment market and successfully pursuing job and internship opportunities requires a set of effective tools and search strategies. At all professional levels, job candidates must be able to clearly describe their unique professional qualifications and how they will contribute value to the hiring organization.

Uniquely for international students, this seminar also covers the nuances of networking and job search in the US and provides CPT and OPT guidelines.

This two-session seminar is designed to facilitate a heightened awareness of career goals and develop the essential ingredients for an effective job search campaign: resume, pitch, online presence, and solid networking and interviewing skills. Participants will construct a professional resume that is appropriate to their target industry or organization and submit it for review and feedback.
