Pekun Bakare
Pekun is a 1st-year MIA/MBA student focusing on International Finance and Economic Policy. Prior to SIPA, Pekun worked for the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) on the Nigeria Infrastructure Fund and at FBN Merchant Bank in the Project and Structured Finance division where he was responsible for raising capital for infrastructure projects in the oil and gas, power, telecoms and transport sectors of Nigeria. His prior experiences include supervising disbursements under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund at NSIA, assisting the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on the rehabilitation of state-owned oil refineries, advising the Central Bank of Nigeria on the recapitalization of the Nigerian power sector and fundraising for NLNG and local operators during the Shell divestment process. Pekun completed a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Durham University and is an avid football, rugby and tennis player.
