Energy modeling is a rapidly growing area of work within the energy industry, especially as utilities, developers and operators need to more carefully balance integration of variable renewables into their systems. This lunch & learn session provides an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities in this sector. The workshop will also cover current market trends and modeling challenges across economic, policy, reliability drivers, and role of various energy system models. No prior knowledge is required.

Grant Thain is a recognized expert in energy risk, valuation, and portfolio optimization with in-depth knowledge of the North American power and gas sector, as well as experience across Europe and global commodity trading. Currently, he is serving as Vice-President of Product Management for Energy Exemplar, a global leader in the energy market simulation market, supporting more than 500 customers globally in navigating the energy transition.
His previous projects and experiences include gas product control for Direct Energy, wholesale risk for NRG Energy (50 GW diverse portfolio of generation assets and trading desks), risk control for PG&E (covering gas transmission network and power supply) and product management for Global Energy/Ventyx.
