SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: MIA and MPA Fall 2026-Spring 2027 Capstone Workshops

IMPORTANT NOTE- This announcement is specifically for students who are in the main Capstone program. Students who are in the Development and Governance concentration or MPA DP program should consult with Prof. Eugenia McGill (em419@columbia.edu) or Concentration Manager Vida Huimin Herling (hh2655@columbia.edu) for information on the application process for that workshop program.

To all 2nd-year MIA and MPA students and fall 2027 graduates required for the Capstone program: the 2026-2027 Capstone Workshops projects and application will be available from Tuesday, October 6, 2026, until Tuesday, October 20, 2026, NOON (12pm) on the Capstone website.

Who should apply? All MIA and MPA students graduating in spring or fall 2027 who have not yet completed their Capstone Workshop requirement — or whose final semester in residence at SIPA will be spring or fall 2027 — must apply and are guaranteed placement in a workshop.

For students who are not in these two groups? This application cycle is ONLY for students who are required to take a Capstone workshop this year to graduate at the end of spring 2027 or fall 2027. Please note that all fall graduates must complete their Capstone requirement in this cycle. There are no 4.5 credit Capstones offered in the fall semester.

Please note, students who are in the Development and Governance concentration or MPA DP program have a separate application with separate application dates. Students are expected to participate in the workshop program designated for their concentration and degree and may not apply outside their designated Capstone workshop program without prior permission. If you have further questions about the D&G workshops, please contact Prof. Eugenia McGill (em419@columbia.edu) or Concentration Manager Vida Huimin Herling (hh2655@columbia.edu).

All Capstone applicants are invited to attend a webinar on the Capstone application process.
