The student teams in SIPA’s Workshop in Sustainable Development Practice (the EPD/D&G Workshop) have been working this year on cutting-edge projects with 17 clients in 15 countries. Notably, three of the projects involve SIPA alumni as clients, and six faculty advisors (as well as the workshop director) are alumni. This year’s projects support AI policy and AI innovations in education and small business development, climate adaptation in rural and urban areas, gender in agriculture and financial inclusion, nutrition and care policy innovations, impact monitoring of data centers and extractive industries, localization of humanitarian assistance, and curbing online scams. On April 30 and May 1, the teams will present highlights of their work in a hybrid conference hosted by SIPA.
Workshop clients, faculty advisors, members of the Columbia/SIPA community, SIPA alumni, and the general public are warmly invited and encouraged to join any sessions of interest.
This event will be hosted in person (for CUID holders) and online. Registration is required to receive a Zoom link.
This year's workshop clients include AlphaMundi Foundation, Brava Foundation, Climate Resilience for All/HERA, Elea Data Centers, Enabling Qapital, Fundación Ronda, Internatinal Trade Centre, Kumulus Water, Ministry of AI and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, One Acre Fund, Pencils of Promise, Rights CoLab, Save the Children Jordan, United Nations Development Programme’s Crisis Bureau and Digital, AI and Innovation Hub, UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mongolia, and World Food Programme’s Regional Centre of Excellence against Hunger and Malnutrition.
The final presentation schedule will be posted by mid-April.
Breakfast and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
