A Sikh Heritage Month event at Columbia centered on Sikh women’s voices and what Sikhi demands of us today. Through two moderated conversations, the program explores intergenerational memory, community harm and injustice, and how Sikh principles like Miri-Piri and seva as solidarity shape responses to contemporary human rights issues - particularly immigration and civil liberties. The event highlights what it means to do this work as first-generation Sikh women in different fields, often with limited representation, while carrying these commitments forward across generations.
