Reproduction sustains human life and shapes gender roles, work, and caregiving. Its regulation influences who bears and cares for children, how careers are affected, and the role of public services. Policies shape choices about when, how, and with whom to have children.

Debates focus on whether reproduction and care are work or intrinsic social functions, who should be compensated, and how public policies support caregiving. Uncertainty surrounds the family models shaping policies, with different groups advocating for changes in financial and social support.

Session 1: The History of Care, Reproduction, and Gender Norms

Session 2: Global Perspectives on Care Policies

This event will bring together academics, policymakers, and advocates to explore care, reproduction and gender norms and their interactions.
