Join Professor Rachel Vogelstein, Co-Director of HRGE, for a conversation with Madhuri Kommareddi, a leader whose career has spanned government, public policy, the nonprofit sector, finance, and business, with a particular focus on expanding economic opportunity.

She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Teamshares, an employee-ownership company designed to help workers build wealth through equity in the businesses where they work. Previously, she served as New York State’s inaugural Director of Workforce Development, overseeing a $175 million initiative to expand access to skills and employment, and at the Clinton Foundation, where she designed and led Job One, which created 150,000 training opportunities for young people. Earlier, as Director for International Economic Affairs at the White House National Security Council and National Economic Council, she helped lead U.S. engagement on global labor and employment issues. A graduate of Yale Law School, Kommareddi brings a distinctive perspective on the connection between economic opportunity, dignity, public policy, and human rights.

Rachel Vogelstein is an associate professor of practice at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and Director of the Ann F. Kaplan Women’s Initiative at the Institute of Global Politics, where she focuses on gender equality in the U.S. and globally. She is also the Faculty Co-Director of the Human Rights, Gender, and Equity concentration.
