The dollar remains the main medium of the world economy. The global banking system operates predominantly through dollars. In extremis the US monetary authorities act as lenders of last resort to the entire global system. This status quo has considerable advantages for US businesses, consumers and tax-payers. It also generates tensions both in the USA and beyond. Recently, these tensions have begun to be voiced even in Washington DC. Can this system last? Are alternatives imaginable? This panel will take up one of the most basic issues in the world economy today.

Registration is open to the general public; please indicate on the RSVP form if you are not a current CUID holder.
