IO/UNS Student Spotlight

Introducing Paloma Camelo (MIA, HRHP 2025)

Paloma's short but significant professional experience has underscored the significance and urgency of a collaborative system that amplifies multi-actor perspectives and fosters cooperation to tackle our global challenges effectively. These perspectives must embrace a hybrid approach, originating not solely from top-down approaches but predominantly from bottom-up initiatives and cross-sector partnerships that can actually make a difference in people's and communities lives.

She holds two bachelor's degrees—one in Political Science and the other in Global Affairs—along with a master's in Peacebuilding. Her professional background has primarily centered on the public sector, with a focus on Peacebuilding and Transitional Justice in Colombia. For almost four years, she had the privilege of working at the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, a transitional tribunal established post the 2016 Peace Agreement between the Colombian government and FARC. The mandate was to investigate, prosecute, and sanction individuals accountable for international crimes committed during the Colombian armed conflict.
