Major Christopher Smith is a United States Army Intelligence Officer with over 12 years of military experience. He has repeatedly deployed to the Middle East, the Sahel region of Africa, and Afghanistan involved in intelligence and combat operations. While at SIPA Chris is pursuing his MPA with a concentration in international security policy and specializing in conflict resolution.

Chris will be discussing his experiences in providing intelligence in support of information operations including target selection, conduit analysis, and the deception planning process. To successfully conduct deception operations information about your target audience needs to be obtained, manipulated, and controlled. The various methods to do this increasingly involve digital means that require at times coming into conflict with technology companies' policies and have ethical implications that policy practitioners need to grapple with.
