Over the course of a two-hour interactive hybrid workshop, participants will learn how to design enduring social justice coalitions by studying an integrated set of power-building strategies and organizing tactics that can be replicated across time and place, such as:

• Prioritizing the autonomy of directly impacted individuals as movement leaders;
• Leading with the facts and stories of human suffering;
• Instilling cross-cultural conceptions of fairness, opportunity and agency;
• Understanding the causes and characteristics of the specific harms to be reduced;
• Applying measurable evidence to make Pareto optimal cases for social change.

Following initial consideration of these foundational theories of organizing and power-building, the workshop will apply these lessons to examining movements that have won landmark civil rights victories.
