Fall is officially here! We have a lot going on at SEA this week so read on below for what we're up to!
Today the Energy and Environment Career Day will be taking place. We are doing this in partnership with ECO and EE. There will be a Second-Year EE Internship Panel this afternoon, followed by a SIPA Alumni Energy Policy Career Panel this evening. Please see the flyers below for more information.
We will also be hosting the San Francisco Energy Trek Information Session, tomorrow, October 8, 1-2pm in IAB 501A. The Trek will be taking place November 3-6 (over Fall Break), and will include company visits, networking opportunities, and more!

Come to the EE Internship Panel and hear from our second years on their internship experiences. Our second years have received fellowships from the Environmental Defence Fund, worked with the UNFCCC in Bonn, monitored SDGs with UNESCAP in Bangkok and so much more. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn about the opportunities out there, the application process and how to leverage SIPA's resources for a fruitful summer.

Are you interested in San Francisco, Technology, and Energy? If you are, join us on the west coast for our annual SIPA Energy Association, SF Energy Career Trek from November 3 to 6!
The Trek is a great opportunity to see first-hand why the Bay Area is an important hub for energy innovation, policy, and technology. Participants will visit top energy companies in the area, network with industry professionals and Columbia alumni, and explore potential employment opportunities.

CGEP Internet of Things Event

Join the Women in Energy program for a timely hands-on workshop on IoT technology. This event is open to all students. In this workshop, attendees will design and prototype an IoT system or product. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of how IoT will impact their current/future businesses, and the ability to create IoT software applications ( see example). This workshop will be led by engineers from Temboo. No engineering or computer science background is needed to participate.

Working under the supervision of the Program Director, the Student Assistant will support the administration of the Center on Global Energy Policy's Women in Energy program. The incumbent will help the Women in Energy program's events with promotion and marketing using the web and email-based outreach platforms and social media. Work under direction of the Program Director, help in writing text, proofreading releases, drafting events, and arranging scheduling of information to public. The incumbent will also research and propose WIE programming including topics and speakers, locations for site visits, and organizations for company overviews. They will lead the creation of a monthly newsletter and gather resources for the monthly group mentorship program.
