Elections will take place on September 25th in the third largest EU economy, which can have consequences far beyond its borders. With infamously unstable political leadership, fragile economy, high government debt and unemployment, another unclear outcome could lead to mayhem in Europe. Another scenario, a clear mandate for the rightwing coalition would mean a huge boost for the non-traditional, EU-critical rightwing parties.

These all prove the importance of the Italian elections, and as a result, CEUSA will host a talk with Professor Carlo Invernizzi Accetti, an expert on European politics to better understand the potential consequences of this important political event.

Design of the event (suggestion):
´éº Arrival of participants
´éº Short opening statement by Columbia European Union Student Association and intro of Professor Accetti's background
´éº (A) Evaluation of the Italian election results
´éº (B) What are the European and global aspects and consequences? Regarding European far-right, sanctions against Russia, EU institutional reforms, EU fiscal reforms
´éº Questions and Answers section [if agreed by the guest speaker]
