Join SIPA's Civic and Voter Engagement Coalition (CiVEC) for an important and timely panel discussion on the challenges facing democracy in the United States!

US-based voting rights organization Fairvote is leading the debate nationally on elections, democracy and electoral reform. How can we transform the American political system to end gerrymandering, partisan gridlock and corrosive polarization? Come hear from our expert panel of Columbia faculty how!

We'll be talking ranked-choice voting, the 2022 midterm elections and Fairvote's radical proposed election law, The Fair Representation Act 2021. Join us on the 15th floor for a frank discussion on contemporary challenges to US democracy and where to go from here. Food and beverages provided by Roti Roll.

Guest Speaker: Rob Richie, CEO and Founder of Fairvote.

Panel discussion:
- Professor Nicholas Stabile, Legislative Director, New York City Economic Development Corporation
- Professor Keesha Gaskins-Nathan, Democratic Practice Program Director at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
- Professor Thania Sanchez, Senior Vice President, States United Democracy Center.
