In 2025, the United States placed sanctions on International Criminal Court (ICC) judges, prosecutors, and Palestinian human rights organizations. This panel event will discuss the implications of those sanctions on the future of international justice and Palestinian human rights work.

The event will begin with a brief primer on the ICC and its role in the international justice system. Then, we'll learn about contemporary threats to the court, including US sanctions and other interference with ICC institutions. Another focus of the event will be on the role that civil society plays in international justice, and how sanctions stymie civil society human rights advocacy, using Palestinian civil society as an example case.
