Tired of human rights as a performance? Join us for an evening where performance reclaims its power.

Chronicles is a student-led evening dedicated to storytelling in the realm of human rights — a curated space for performance, reflection, and resistance. In a time marked by the withdrawal of expression under threat, this event seeks to hold space for voices that challenge, unsettle, and imagine otherwise.

Through spoken word, visual art, protest music, and multimedia submissions from across the Columbia community, Chronicles brings together those who see art not just as expression, but as intervention. It will be an evening of shared protest and creative community, foregrounding performance as a mode of both witnessing and world-making.

Art shines and delivers most notably during the most regressive phases of history; it is a keeper of our collective conscience, a vault of our memories, and reinforces our will to keep fighting when other forms of resistance fail. In the spirit of the revolutionary power of art, join us in celebrating all that we hold dear – dignity and safety for all, and the struggle for a just world. Treat it as a space not only to express yourself during difficult times, but also as a community-driven space to pause, reflect and reorient yourself towards a future free of oppression everywhere.

The event will include an open mic segment, a guest artist reading or workshop, a live art station, and a gallery of student submissions. A more detailed programme will be circulated closer to the event.
