As global migration has reached unprecedented highs, access to basic services, such as food, has become increasingly difficult for migrants. This has been the case for the approximately 70,000 Central American migrants who travel through Mexico each year. Dr. Manuela Orjuela-Grimm, an assistant professor at the Mailman School of Public Health, will discuss her publication "Relative Severity of Food Insecurity During Overland Migration in Transit Through Mexico". She will focus her discussion on research methods related to her work with migrants in transit as well as work with immigrant communities in NYC, especially as it relates to food security in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
