PICK OF THE WEEK

This week's featured television event: The Winter Olympics!

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics kick off this week! While the first events start on Wednesday, the official opening ceremony will be broadcast on Friday evening in the United States.
Don't like sports? The Winter Olympics still has plenty to offer SIPA students! From diplomatic boycotts of the Olympics by western countries attempting to make a point about human rights abuses in China to the use of the Olympics to boost the reputation of countries as a global power, there is a lot for us policy students to take in. Specific flashpoints also include Russia's continued soft ban from participation due to systematic doping and the way that multinational corporate sponsors of the Olympics are tailoring their promotion of the Olympics to the political climate of each country where they advertise. Check out a full schedule of events HERE
