Happy fifth week of classes!
Hello EPD-ers!
We hope you're all getting a chance to relax now that the first microeconomics midterm is behind you! As we embrace the autumn season, we encourage you to reconnect with the peers you bonded with during the retreat—perhaps by inviting them for coffee or enjoying a walk together in Central Park! If you missed us at the retreat, don’t worry—you have another opportunity to spend time with your peers at the EPD Fall Social at Baylander. This location offers the perfect setting to enjoy delicious (and free!) food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, all while taking in the sunset over the Hudson River and networking with your peers and EPD faculty. Space is limited, and we only have a few spots left, so be sure to sign up here.
We also have some exciting professional events coming up, including internships and alumni panels. Get ready for a great fall semester filled with educational and fun events at your fingertips!
This week’s newsletter includes:

Camila Balcazar Núñez is a first year student at SIPA, starting her MPA with an EPD concentration and a IO/UNS specialization. Before coming to SIPA, she provided gender consultancy services for non-profits and companies in Mexico. She’s currently leading the Gender Policy and Strategy Team for “Hola Soy Violetta”, a Mexican non-profit that develops and offers AI-solutions to promote healthy relationships and prevent gender violence. “Hola Soy Violetta” (Hello I am Violetta) was recently recognized as Runner-Up of the SDG Digital GameChangers Award by the International Telecommunication Union and the United Nations Development Programme, and Camila Balcazar had the opportunity to receive the award during the official award ceremony in the United Nations Headquarters in NYC this September 20th, 2024.
Please use this link to share your story and upload a picture of yourself. We also welcome you to nominate your peers. This is a great way for us to celebrate and learn about the inspiring individuals in the EPD community.
