4/16: Advancing Girls' Rights and Development Across SectorsDrawing on over 15 years of global experience across Africa and Southeast Asia, Lauren Rumble has worked closely with governments, philanthropic partners, and the private sector to advance large-scale investments in child rights, gender equality, and girls’ leadership. In this session, Lauren will share insights from UNICEF’s work to elevate the rights, voices, and potential of adolescent girls worldwide, exploring how evidence-based advocacy and cross-sector collaboration can drive lasting change across health, education, climate, social policy, and protection.4/17: Women, Business and the Law: Unpacking the World Bank’s 2026 Flagship ReportHRGE and D&G are excited to host Alexis Cheney, Analyst on Women, Business and the Law at World Bank Group. Alexis will present the latest findings of the Women, Business and the Law 2026 Flagship report. Nayantara Vohra, Analyst at World Bank Group, will join virtually and speak to students about the report findings on child marriage. Students will learn how data from the report can be incorporated into their own research and used for policy reforms. A light breakfast and coffee will be available.
4/29: Why AI Needs Feminism: From Campus Surveillance to Global Conflicts
Why AI Needs Feminism brings together feminist critical technologists Lauren Klein (Emory University) and Meredith Broussard (NYU) in conversation with Barnard’s Saima Akhtar (Vagelos Computational Science Center) and Gabrielle Gutierrez (Neuroscience) to examine how algorithmic surveillance is reshaping everyday life—from predictive policing in New York neighborhoods of color to the data infrastructures sustaining global conflicts and occupations.
