EPD Announcements

Tote Bags Have Arrived! (Distribution Wednesday 1:00 - 2:00 PM outside Publique)

EPD tote bags are here! EPD has ordered canvas tote bags for our students this year so we can all physically manifest our EPD pride while in the queue at Trader Joe's! They have just arrived and we will be distributing them on Wednesday December 15th from 1-2 PM in the hallway just outside Publique on the 6th floor. If you can't make it then, they will then be available for pickup in the EPD office (Room 1305) before 4:30PM on Thursday this week, or on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. Come by and grab yours before you head off for winter break!

PICK OF THE WEEK

This week's featured book: Invisible Child by Andrea Elliot

Named one of the NYT best books of the year, this book focuses on a young woman in New York City, including her own educational experience in city schools. From their article, "To expand on her 2013 series for The New York Times about Dasani Coates, a homeless New York schoolgirl, and her family, Elliott spent years following her subjects in their daily lives, through shelters, schools, courtrooms and welfare offices. The book she has produced — intimately reported, elegantly written and suffused with the fierce love and savvy observations of Dasani and her mother — is a searing account of one family’s struggle with poverty, homelessness and addiction in a city and country that have failed to address these issues with efficacy or compassion."

(We would love to hear your recommendations! Let us know what you have watched/read/listened to recently so we can feature them in the next newsletter!)
