From: Starting at SIPA - New Students (2024 - 2025)
Date: August 15
Subject: Important Reminders + Preparing for Your Arrival to SIPA

Dear First_Name,

Before we get to this week's reminders, we wanted to share important news that came out last night regarding the leadership transition at Columbia University. With President Shafik's resignation, it has been announced that the chief executive officer for the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Dr. Katrina Armstrong, will serve as interim president. Dean Yarhi-Milo shared a statement about this with the SIPA community today to thank president Shafik for her service, welcome interim president Armstrong, and solidify SIPA's steadfast commitment to our mission. Please read the full statement here.

In preparation for the upcoming Fall semester, we want to remind you of a few important tasks due on August 18:

  • Submit all official transcripts. You must have an official electronic transcript submitted for each university you attended to enroll in courses. This transcript must include degree conferral, or you must submit proof that the degree has been awarded. Please review our instructions on the Admitted Students’ Portal (password: WelComeFall24) of what will be classified as an “official” transcript.
  • Submit official test scores. If you took the GRE/GMAT or TOEFL/IELTS and did not list our school code for official delivery, please request that these official scores are sent to SIPA as soon as possible.
  • Submit proof of completion of quantitative course. For students admitted with a quantitative course requirement, your admission to SIPA requires that you submit an official transcript of your summer course with the required grade of B+ or higher.
  • Submit Your Immunization Records Immediately. Without proof of certain required immunizations, you will not be able to register for classes. Documentation can take up to 30 days to review, so submit NOW. Read the details »

Please note that failure to ANY of these requirements will result in a registration hold, preventing you from registering for classes. Registration for new students begins August 27. Visit your Admitted Students’ Portal (password: WelComeFall24) for guidelines on submitting these materials. Registration holds can be viewed in Vergil/SSOL >>.

If you have any questions about these requirements above, please reach out to the Admissions team at sipa_admission@sipa.columbia.edu.
