STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Each week we will feature an EPD student from first or second year so we can learn a bit about our classmates and their backgrounds!

Sachi Gupta - MPA Class of '23

Hi everyone! I’m Sachi Gupta from New Delhi, India and I’m a first year MPA-EPD student. I graduated from The George Washington University in Washington DC with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 2017. As an aspiring social entrepreneur, I moved back home to India the summer after I graduated and started working in development consulting, specifically in the education and skills development space. I got an amazing opportunity to work on projects for the Governments of India and Uzbekistan and multilateral and donor agencies including The World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the UN system. During the pandemic, my sister and I revived an old business of my mother’s that focuses on promoting local artisans across India. We’re called The Wudhouse (IG : @thewudhouse) and we focus on artisanal homeware products, all conscious, handmade, and produced in India. I love exploring new restaurants, traveling and swimming! I’m looking forward to meeting fellow Seeples, have a great semester everyone!

PICK OF THE WEEK

This week's featured book: Crossroads, Jonathan Franzen

Curious to know what your parents are going to be reading at their book club soon? Well, we have the answer for you - Jonathan Franzen's new novel, Crossroads. This book is nearly 600 pages and is the first in an expected trilogy. Gulp. According to the New York Times review, the book, set in suburban Chicago, "is warmer than anything he’s yet written, wider in its human sympathies, weightier of image and intellect." Amazon adds, "a tour de force of interwoven perspectives and sustained suspense, its action largely unfolding on a single winter day, Crossroads is the story of a Midwestern family at a pivotal moment of moral crisis. Jonathan Franzen’s gift for melding the small picture and the big picture has never been more dazzlingly evident." Happy Reading!

(We would love to hear your recommendations! Let us know what you have watched/read/listened to recently so we can feature them in the next newsletter!)
