Hello EPD-ers!

Congratulations on making it to the last day of classes and a similar congrats to all of the EPD students who presented on their EPD Workshops last week! Thank you to everyone who came to the Workshop Presentations and reception! It was great to see all of you and to be able to hold these events in person after years of zoom. For those who couldn't attend, links to last week's presentations are available at the bottom of this email.

While events this semester are winding down, we will have one final EPD Happy Hour to celebrate graduates on Friday May 13! Mark it in your calendar and see below for details! We'll also have one final newsletter next week as well, but for now, best of luck in studying and completing final papers and exams and keep reading for the latest updates from the world of EPD and beyond!

EPD ANNOUNCEMENTS

EPD Summer Internship Stipend Application Closes Today (Monday 5/2) at Midnight! 
All continuing EPD students are eligible to apply! We will be able to offer four students $2500 dollars each to help support them while they undertake an internship related to economic development. The application and further details are available HERE. We are the last on the list so scroll all the way down! The application is available until midnight tonight. 

EPD Survey - Spring 2022 (Deadline 5/9) 
Please fill out the EPD survey! These results are really valued and used by the EPD team as they try to improve the EPD experience! So far most of you have avoided completing the survey (tsk tsk). The survey focuses on your overall EPD experience (EPD classes, activities, and other aspects of the EPD concentration). Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to evolve and improve students' experience in our concentration. EPD End of Term Happy Hour to Celebrate Graduating Students on May 13
We are hoping that this will be at Baylander (that cool boat on the Hudson where we did drinks during orientation last fall!) between 5-7 PM on the evening of Friday May 13, but we are still confirming the time and place and this may change if they don't have the availability! Either way, the vibe will be fun and casual at a cool venue with drinks on EPD. We'll send out an email to confirm location and timing as soon as we know, so mark down your calendars and be on the lookout for further confirmation from us so that we can celebrate the end of exams and graduating students in style! 

OSA is promising puppies in Room 610 on Thursday May 5 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM

International Trade Centre (ITC) Summer Internship in New York
SIPA alumna Michelle Lau-Burke is handling the hiring and would like interested candidates to email her directly with a resume and cover letter by May 6 (<mlauburke@intracen.org>). The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the internship is with the office of the ITC representative to the UN, starting in June for a period of 3 months. NYC Mayor's Public Engagement Unit - Two Jobs Opening Up
International students are welcome to apply. Salaries are between $60-68k. These were shared with us by SIPA alumna Kristen Grennan who will be on the other end of the google form that is linked for each form below.

  1. Comms Writer: The NYC Public Engagement Unit (PEU) hiring a Communications Writer to assist in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing internal and external resources in order to increase New Yorkers’ access to resources and benefits available to them. The Writer would be able to help PEU in telling its story in consistent and clear ways while also producing high-quality materials, such as executive-level talking points, press releases, news announcements, web content, op-eds, and other communications.
  2. Digital Organizer/Community Manager: The NYC PEU is hiring a Digital Organizer/Community Manager who will use digital tools to engage and mobilize PEU staff, in order to expand our outreach to New Yorkers about critical benefits and resources. The Digital Organizer/Community Manager will need to devise an effective strategy for creating and managing inbound and outbound messages on platforms such as social media, Slack, and online forums and empower staff to take an active role in supporting the rollout of this strategy. 

Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) Hiring a New Director
IPA is hiring a Director, a position best suited for EPD-ers with 5-7 years of work experience. The position is for their Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development team. Further details are available HERE.

Abt Associates: Various Roles 
A reminder that, in addition to the Abt roles we share last week, we have also been made aware that many new positions will open up on their website in the coming days. French, Spanish, and Russian speakers preferred. So keep an eye out for these postings! 

DAI Global Summer Internship Position 
DAI is accepting applications for a paid internship starting in June 2022. The intern will work on several initiatives in support of the Private Sector Development and Skills (PSDS) practice, as well as strategic initiatives within the Economic Growth Sector at DAI more broadly.  Work will be performed remotely with the option to work in DAI’s Bethesda, MD office. Students can directly apply to daitalent@dai.com with their cover letter and resume

World Economic Forum hiring Early Career Programme (ECP) Trainee (6 months)
