Subject: Greetings from SIPA's Office of Student Affairs!

Dear First_Name,

Welcome to SIPA! As the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, my team and I are excited to meet you and help support your academic success. We offer a range of student services, advising, and programming to assist you through your journey.

You’re joining a vibrant and diverse class of talented individuals. The administration, faculty, and your fellow students all wish you an enriching academic experience filled with challenges, productivity, satisfaction, and discovery.

This summer, you can expect a weekly email from us with crucial information that will help prepare you for your graduate school journey. The pre-arrival checklist items can always be found in the Welcome Portal (password: WeLComeFall23). Before you arrive in August, please remember to complete all the items, but in particular, please complete these actions items as soon as possible:

  • Set up your Columbia UNI and Email. Your University Network ID (UNI) grants you access to Columbia's resources and is where you’ll receive official communications from SIPA and the University. Important note: Messages are now only being sent to your "@columbia.edu" email account, so start checking it regularly.

  • Create a profile on SIPA's CampusGroups. This online platform is where you can share information about yourself, upload a photo, and connect with various school activities, events, and groups, such as student organizations, concentrations, specializations, the Office of Student Affairs, the Career Advancement Center, and so much more.

  • Orientation - Save the Date! (August 28 through September 1). We can’t wait to welcome you in person.  Over the summer, you will receive a detailed schedule and information about how to access all Orientation events and activities. During Orientation, you’ll begin registering for your Fall 2023 courses and get guidance on developing your plan for the Fall (and beyond)!

We're thrilled to have you join us and look forward to supporting you throughout your graduate studies.

Best regards,

Tsuya Yee
Associate Dean for Student Affairs
