EPD ANNOUNCEMENTS

FYI: Upcoming EPD Workshop Survey - Preferences for Next Year
Some of you may have seen a recent survey targeted at first year's regarding capstone preferences for next year. Feedback from these forms is used to help inform the capstone projects that SIPA puts together for students for next year. We just wanted to keep you up to speed that EPD, which puts together its own separate list of workshops specifically for EPD students, will also be sending out a survey at the end of the month to get input from continuing EPD students who will be doing their workshop next year on what kinds of projects and/or clients you would like to work with. We can't wait to hear your feedback!

Get your Tote Bags! Seriously. Come get a Tote Bag!
If you haven't already picked up your amazing EPD tote bag, they are waiting for you in the EPD office in Room 1305 in IAB. Feel free to stop by anytime Mon-Fri before 4:30 PM and pick yours up!

UN Department of Peace Operations: Intern Position with DDR team (Deadline 4/16)

The UN Department of Peace Operations (DPO) has just opened a position for a summer internship in the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Section of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI). This was shared with us by an EPD alum and there is a long history of SIPA students working in DPO, so any applicants would have a good chance of getting the position! Further details and how to apply available at https://careers.un.org/lbw/jobdetail.aspx?id=177321

A Career Tool for the Altruistic: 80,000 Hours
80,000 hours is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people think through how to make a positive global impact in their careers (we will all work roughly 80,000 hours in our lifetimes!) They offer some very interesting guides and advice on how to think about what career paths might be most effective, and also have a job board frequently updated with new job postings that is really intuitive and easy to use. We're not being paid by these guys, we just stumbled upon this recently and thought it was a really cool tool other EPD-ers might want to use too! Check out their website at https://80000hours.org/

Fun Activites in NYC-  Sherlock Holmes in 221 Objects

From TimeOut's review: "
The Grolier Club, a private Upper East Side club and society for book lovers, is opening its doors to the public for what is the first comprehensive Sherlock Holmes exhibition in New York City in more than half a century. Between now and April 16, "Sherlock Holmes in 221 Objects," will feature "an unrivaled number" of Sir Conan Doyle's belongings, including four short story manuscripts, a wealth of holograph letters from Doyle to friends, colleagues, and well-wishers, an idea book of his private musings, including a calendar note where he wrote "killed Holmes" on, as well as a never-before-displayed handwritten speech detailing his explanation for killing off Holmes." There is no cost, just an RSVP on Eventbrite
