It’s been a busy week! I hope the past few days have been filled with excitement, new friendships, connections to your intellectual community, and you’ve had a smooth registration for fall 2023 classes. This past week, we welcomed close to 500 new students to SIPA. We hope the welcome remarks from the school's leadership: Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo, Vice Dean Alex Hertel-Fernandez, Chief Operating Officer Alexsandra Sanford, Associate Dean for Diversity and Community Engagement Jilliene Rodriguez, SIPASA President Deris Nagara, and Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Tsuya Yee were inspiring and conveyed to you how valuable you are to our community. We believe in your potential to put the knowledge you will gain at SIPA to making an impact on the world.

Our presenters this week shared important advice for new students -
- Give yourself time to adjust
- Find your resources that will serve you during challenging times
- Understand the value of your fellow students as your future network
- Immerse yourself in the school and take advantage of all that is available to you
- Step out and push your boundaries to explore the full campus and New York City
- Find a mentor - visit faculty in office hours and get to know them - they are excited to be teaching you
- Seek out your academic advisor to help you find balance between your academics, life at SIPA, and any other issues you are facing

- If your plans have changed and you no longer can join SIPA for the Fall 2023 semester, please contact SIPA Admissions at sipa_admission@columbia.edu immediately to let them know your status change. If you hope to join us for a future term, consider reapplying for the Spring or Fall 2024. More information can be found here.
