UN Department of Peace Operations: Intern Position with DDR team (Deadline 4/16)

The UN Department of Peace Operations (DPO) has just opened a position for a summer internship in the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Section of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI). This was shared with us by an EPD alum and there is a long history of SIPA students working in DPO, so any applicants would have a good chance of getting the position! Further details and how to apply available at https://careers.un.org/lbw/jobdetail.aspx?id=177321

A Career Tool for the Altruistic: 80,000 Hours
80,000 hours is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people think through how to make a positive global impact in their careers (we will all work roughly 80,000 hours in our lifetimes!) They offer some very interesting guides and advice on how to think about what career paths might be most effective, and also have a job board frequently updated with new job postings that is really intuitive and easy to use. We're not being paid by these guys, we just stumbled upon this recently and thought it was a really cool tool other EPD-ers might want to use too! Check out their website at https://80000hours.org/

Pick of the Week - Whitney Biennal 2022

The Whitney Museum of American Art is hosting it's 2022 Biennial, which opens on April 6 after a year of pandemic related delays. It's not free (boo!) but this is a really cool chance to see what America's leading artists have to say about two years of the pandemic! From the museum description: "
The Whitney Biennial has surveyed the landscape of American art, reflecting and shaping the cultural conversation, since 1932. The eightieth edition of the landmark exhibition is co-curated by David Breslin and Adrienne Edwards. Titled Quiet as It’s Kept, the 2022 Biennial features an intergenerational and interdisciplinary group of sixty-three artists and collectives whose dynamic works reflect the challenges, complexities, and possibilities of the American experience today." A review of the coolest exhibits from TimeOut NYC is available HERE.
