Join SSOC and other Columbia student organizations for this year's conference, held virtually the week of January 25, 2021 - January 29, 2021.

The 2021 Intersectionality Conference is a series of conversations, panels, and workshops that address the role that overlapping social identities—including race, gender, class, immigration status, and sexual orientation—play in social, economic, and political inequities, and highlights the critical need for intersectional analyses in public policy formulation and implementation.

This year, in particular, the conference comes at an inflection point for the United States and the world; the United States' political climate, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the effects of COVID-19 have created a disastrous medley and an opportunity for change. Nonetheless, we are heartened to witness unprecedented solidarity take shape. Thus the theme of the conference will be Alliance. As multinational and multi-ethnic policy students—and more so, citizens of the world—we must recognize the need to be better equipped to build coalitions for the betterment of civil society.
