Dear HRHPers,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 academic year! We hope that you had an amazing summer and you are ready to start classes this week.

As you may already know, the concentration will be sending our weekly newsletters through CampusGroups on Monday mornings, so please watch for events, announcements, and opportunities that we will be sending your way! Starting next week, the newsletter will be sent from your Fall 2019 HRHP PAs, Alejandro and Eva. Please feel free to reach out to them with any questions you may have, or stop by IAB room 803.

  • Don't forget to join our WhatsApp group! Email Alejandro or Eva to get a link to join. 
  • If you haven't already submitted your payment for the HRHP Retreat and would still like to do so, please come speak with Michelle (IAB 803) by the end of the business day today.
  • If any 2nd years would like to schedule an appointment to review their degree audit, please email Michelle at mc4225@columbia.edu.
  • HRHP will now be accepting course substitution requests through our online portal in CampusGroups! 
  • J-termers who anticipate graduating this December should submit their completed concentration degree audit to Michelle by Tuesday, September 17th.

HRHP Retreat pt. I - Civil Rights and Social Justice Walking Tour

Please join fellow HRHPers for a Civil Rights and Social Justice Walking tour with Inside Out Tours. This Harlem tour focuses on the social movements of African Americans in New York City including the abolitionist movement against American slavery, the civil rights movement and today’s social justice struggles for affordable housing, equal justice under the law, and safe community streets.

Students will meet at IAB room 803 at 2:30 sharp to proceed to the tour.

Get to know fellow graduate students, faculty, and staff in the human rights community at Columbia! This all-day retreat will feature faculty info sessions, highlight student clubs, and help us all become acquainted for the academic year!

 

Additional activities such as touring the MET Cloisters and kayaking are also available, please indicate in your event registration which activity you prefer to participate in.

 

The day will close with food and drinks at Tryon Public House.Please email mc4225@columbia.edu for disability accommodations.
