STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Each week we will feature an EPD student from first or second year so we can learn a bit about our classmates and their backgrounds!

Rui Cui - MPA Class of '23

I am Rui (Corrine) Cui, a first-year MPA student concentrating in EPD and specializing in TMaC.

After conducting research on China’s NGOs and their image in Myanmar as well as the integration of overseas Chinese in South Africa, I found my interests in non-profit organizations, migrant communities, civil society, international development, and corporate social responsibility.

I founded an NGO called Social Responsibility Practitioners (SRP) that focuses on SDG actions with the power of youth. SRP has organized various events with 100+ organizations, including the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community, UNDP Movers, B Corps, and others. You can learn more about our work here.

PICK OF THE WEEK

This week's featured movie: The French Dispatch

Want a break from midterm prep and exam stress? Watch a funny and refreshing movie inspired by The New Yorker!

Directed by Wes Anderson, this film is an anthology of three whimsical short stories set in France in the mid-20th Century. The conceit is that they were all published in an English-language magazine which is edited in the punningly-named fictional French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé, but which is attached to an American newspaper based in Kansas.

(We would love to hear your recommendations! Let us know what you have watched/read/listened to recently so we can feature them in the next newsletter!)
