Founded in 1947, the Journal of International Affairs is a leading peer-reviewed journal published by the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. It is the premier university-affiliated periodical in the field and has earned worldwide recognition for framing the heated debates that define global events and foreign policy.

In the aftermath of World War II, the founders of the journal saw a need for a publication that would serve as a forum for exploring issues and offering innovative solutions to problems of global concern. The journal has featured leading minds in the field of international affairs since its inception.

Our group represents a new effort to raise awareness, increase understanding, and promote engagement among the SIPA and Columbia student body on Palestine. We meet, organize, and advocate in order to encourage a more holistic understanding of Palestine, with specific attention devoted to the political, social, economic, cultural, historical, and legal circumstances that have influenced the past and shape the future. Our goal is to serve as a source of information and a means of education on an issue that is often absent from academic and social life at SIPA.

To reach these goals, we seek to provide SIPA students, and all who participate in our events, with exposure to Palestinian perspectives. Our events include speaking engagements by leading political and intellectual figures in Palestine and related issues, the hosting and co-sponsoring of cultural activities, and potential opportunities for tourism and travel in Palestine. Through these events and others, we address the topics of human and civil rights in contemporary Palestine, the nature and characteristics of historical and contemporary Palestinian identity, and the role of policy and a SIPA education in present-day circumstances, particularly the Occupation and struggle for liberation.

The purpose and objectives of SIPASA shall be to address the interests and concerns of
SIPA students by direct student representation in the creation of policy and programming to further
those interests and execute such operations, as enumerated under this Constitution. SIPASA shall
strive to improve the overall student experience and partner with the administration to support the
management and development of the School by:
I. Representing the student body to the SIPA administration, SIPA faculty, SIPA alumni,
Columbia-wide community and other stakeholders as necessary;

The Sustainable Business Working Group (SBWG) coalesces students at Columbia School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) across concentrations around a shared interest in sustainable and responsible business practices. Rather than defining business sustainability, the SBWG seeks to explore the various trends and topics of sustainability and impact within the private sector.

Taiwan Focus aims to foster understanding and awareness of this island country, and to
encourage dialogue and research on Taiwan-related issues in the Columbia University
community. Taiwan Focus also serves as a platform to provide resources for those who are
interested in studying and/or traveling in Taiwan. We organize and promote events
including movie nights, brown bag talks, cultural events, and art exhibitions both on- and
off-campus, on a variety of topics including Taiwanese society, culture, politics, economy,
and history.

The United Nations Association (UNA) is a student body organization working in close relation with the United Nations Studies (UNS) specialization at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University. Mission
The mission of WIS is to come together and build a sense of community among the women of SIPA interested in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and work towards integrating these areas for sustainability. The organization aims to empower and inspire women by providing spaces to form professional networks and share knowledge.

WIS facilitates conversations on increased representation of women in STEM positions of leadership, achieving equity in pay and benefits, facilitating women friendly workplace environments etc. Combined with integrating scientific research and creating collaborative learning environments using STEM techniques, WIS focuses on building a stronger knowledge base to leverage resources and solve development problems.

Moreover WIS seeks to engage with women in the industry, enthusiasts in SIPA and the larger Columbia Community through different means including career panels, speaker series, workshops, and networking events with STEM professionals to help foster professional advancement and long term STEM careers and incorporate innovation in our work environments.
